About This Quote

Sexual preferences are a legitimate subject for humour, dirty humour if at all possible. This is a quote from the comedian, George Carlin. He said this in an interview with the Playwright, Neil Simon. In this quote he is saying that people’s sexual preferences can be a source of humour.

The problem is, what is the joke? If the joke is that someone is gay and that’s funny then it’s not dirty humour because everyone has a sense of humour and we all think it’s funny when someone does something stupid or dumb. The issue here is that there are no jokes in this situation and so it isn’t funny at all.
